DESCRIPTION:Calling local captains\, charter offices\, and boat owners! Join us to learn more about paid opportunities to fish for science in the marine reserves and enjoy some pizza!  \nODFW Marine Reserves contracts with fishermen to use their vessels for hook-and-line surveys in the reserves each year. This meeting will focus on sampling in Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve in the 2026. Vessel must have capacity for 15 passengers plus captain and two deckhands and gear to support hook-and-line fishing.

The meeting will be held at the Carmen Ford Phillips Auditorium in the Gladys Valley Marine Studies Building (2030 SE Marine Science Dr\, Newport\, OR) followed by a networking reception. Register here. \nAbout the Nearshore Ecology Program\nIn 2025\, ODFW’s Marine Resources Program reorganized the Oregon Marine Reserves Program and Marine Habitat Project into one program. The creation of the new Nearshore Ecology Program culminates a vision to bring efforts focused on marine conservation and nearshore habitat research under one roof. The Nearshore Ecology Program aims to strengthen collaborations\, techniques\, and teamwork around two groups historically focused on marine conservation science.
